During the last decade of the 20th century, AJP’s partnership with Home Depot prospered and the company worked on over 60 of the home improvement stores. AJP continued work on the Cerritos Auto Square and would eventually either build or remodel all but one of the dealerships on the mall. The company also saw change as Gene Padelford retired from the company after five successful decades. He was succeeded as president by his eldest son Doug who, like his father, was involved in the community, serving on numerous commissions.
At the turn of the millennium, AJP moved into its current offices at Cerritos Plaza. The family, though, soon suffered the loss of Gene in 2001 and Doug in 2005. The company, as always, moved forward. Dan became president and the fourth generation took on more responsibility. Now, in the second decade of a new century, the company looks to the future while always remembering A.J., Gene, and Doug’s commitment to quality, on-time work. After 80 years, A. J. Padelford & Son, Inc. knows this is the blueprint for success.
